This boat dates back to 1950's when Maynard bought it as the first and only Black's Cliff Ski Boat. It pulled more first time skiers than the Minocqua Bats ever have. Kids were no problem the older we got the more everyone kept an eye on their weight never wanting to be too heavy for the summer that the ski boat couldn't pull them up. I am sure others can tell their favorite ski boat story (keep them clean I know there are bikni top story's from a few summer boys out there:) The late 80's saw the end of the glorious ski boat days when insurance rates made it impossible for us to offering water skiing every afternoon at 1pm sharp. I am sure I lost some hearing from the hours spent behind this boat but it was well worth it. The boat has had motor issues the last few years and has not been in, in over 5 years. Craig spent a little money on the motor this summer hoping to have it in in August but did not make it. Instead picked November 1st to put it in before winter to test out the new clutch dog. Will the motor work.... my bet 50 - 50 [caption id="attachment_407" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Ummm Grandpa I think you forgot a rope"]Ummm Grandpa I think you forgot a rope[/caption] Jake and Matt out in the boat for its launch at Hilltop. Craig forgot to attach a rope to the boat as it went off the trailer. Start paddling [caption id="attachment_408" align="alignnone" width="375" caption="Where is the key for the electric start?"]Where is the key for the electric start?[/caption] Electric start, who needs electric start that is for whozies. It has always been a pull start 40 horse. Ever pull started a 40 horse? Ask any of the Black's why they have such good arms and they will say from all the pulls they did on this motor. I know I could have won an arm wrestling conest in my teens after a summer of taking skiers [caption id="attachment_410" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Motor started and out of dry dock we go"]Motor started and out of dry dock we go[/caption] Hey Jake did your grandpa remember to put the plug in? Hold on full speed is about to commence [caption id="attachment_411" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Yaaaaa Hooooooooooo"]Yaaaaa Hooooooooooo[/caption] I have never driven another boat that can corner like the ski boat. Everyone else can spend thousands of dollars on fancy inboards, I know of no one who has driven this boat who would trade it for an inboard [caption id="attachment_412" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="This is for Paul wish you were here"]This is for Paul wish you were here[/caption] Well maybe not, the boat might not have survived Paul putting it through its paces the way he used to drive. [caption id="attachment_409" align="alignnone" width="375" caption="Generation #4 learning how to drive from Generation 2"]Generation #4 learning how to drive from Generation 2[/caption] And the tradition continues. Missing pic is Jake and Matt off on a solo ride with out adults having the time of their lives [caption id="attachment_414" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Need a ride to a friends house?"]Need a ride to a friends house?[/caption] Need a ride to a friends house how about the old ski boat. Get there and take everyone for a ride! Yahhhooo hold on tight! [caption id="attachment_413" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Really Mrs Drewery I will bring them back in one piece"]Really Mrs Drewery I will bring them back in one piece[/caption] I have no idea why Jimmy's mom looked a little worried:) Life Vests on and time to turn and burn [caption id="attachment_415" align="alignnone" width="375" caption="Into the sunset"]Into the sunset[/caption] I hope this entry brought a smile and memories to a few people out there. And made a few middle aged ladies wonder what ever happened to that bikini top did it sink to the bottom of the lake?
