World Dry Land Dog Races
Posted: Oct 24, 2025
We are having a great week hosting some of the American and Canadian World Dry Land Dog racers. The above pic is of the top dog and world champion over all age groups male and female in bike journing. One dog and one competitor and a really long race on bike with dog pulling and pedaling. Congrats to Canada. We had several other big winners I will post too.

The teams have enjoyed out fall color and the beautiful lakes. They travel all over the world to beautiful places and say Northern Wisconsin has been special for all of them. They especially enjoy our trails for walking their dogs and all the amazing trails at the race site, Minocqua Winter Park just 15 min from resort. The park has become more year round with events like this. During the winter it is some of the best cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, dog skijourning, and tubing. Most of our winter guests spend at least a day at the park.

Having the top dogs in the world at the resort, it is interesting to see the difference between them and the winter huskies. For dry land they use crosses of German Short Hair, Great Danes, and Gray Hounds. These are 3 siblings and a friend.

The shear size of these dogs is amazing

More Canadians and their beautiful dogs. I can't remember which medal this dog won, but the smiles from owners say it all. This crew is from Quebec and lots of French can be heard out at the sauna this week.

Another great sled dog. Happy working dogs

Several of the racers traveled with their kids as well. Truly a tight group of folks who travel around together to the races

These are the bikes and scooter they use for the races. The back scooter is made just for dry land dog races. Truly a unique sport.
Btw, If wondering why there looks like a chimney behind the bikes coming out of the ground. Once everyone leaves that is the new chimney going on Birchwood that will match Muskie's chimney we did last year. Birchwood has been too busy to work on.

Besides all the dog races we have Michael Clayton's group of guys up muskie fishing and they have happily found a few

Northern's and Muskie's oh, my.

I had a sock machine come through my doors. It is a 1924 Gearhart. I will be doing some small repairs to it and greasing it up for it to find a new home. If interested let me know. I will be working on it in a week or 2. I think it is a nice machine that looks like it was well cared for and used.

Still beautiful up here enjoying the fall. After this weekend mid week rates go through the weekend and I have waved all cleaning fees through November 20th. So if you are looking for a nice quiet time to walk our trails and enjoy not crazy busy restaurants its time to escape.
