When we first were open in the winter and I found bundles like this in the snow around Christmas and New Years I had no idea what they were. Thought maybe someone was decorating for Christmas... After 18 winters of being open we are much wiser now to the traditions of Russians. Apparently lashing one another on the back with pine bowes is either a form of affection... gets the blood pumping... or maybe luck in am not sure which but it is not decoration. This ritual usually happens in the sauna or the cabin shower. Steve who was helping to clean yesterday asked me if someone had brought their wreath into Muskie's shower and bathed with it. Nope I said just the Russians wishing each other luck in their own way
