Not a Duck!

I know many will say that is a duck on the raft but it is not. It is something I have never seen in all my years, I looked down the hill from the house and wondered what is that on the raft grabbed the camera in disbelief ... I will give you a hint, look at the bird in the water and you will have a clue, although the bird in the water is in its winter plumage and hard to identify. It is one of the loons perched on the raft in its ugly winter plumage. I would not believe it if I had not seen it. Look at the feet far back on the body. Loons are ment to swim not get on land. They can not walk on land that is why it is perched in such a strange manor counter balancing its body so far in front of its legs. It stood in this strange position for about 10 minutes. Flying off with its friend seconds from me attaching my telephoto lens to get a closer look. I was so bummed Flying off back to where it belongs in the lake not on the raft. Would not have believed it if I had not seen it I have seen them do the same thing on a different day at the same time of day but did not get the camera and loons together. I will be better armed today if they return for some perching
