www.lgfws.com This blog entry if for everyone in the area local and visitor who has someone in their family or friend who is disabled or senior that can not get out fishing anymore but still want to go. Rhinelander 30 minutes from the resort has the first chapter in the state of Wisconsin of Lets Go Fishing With Seniors. The organization started out in Minnesota and Rhinelander is the first chapter in Wisconsin to open. The boat is captained by volunteers who help folks have a great day on the lake and it is free (they appreciate donations as that is the only thing that keeps the boat going) They have 14 captains chairs on a huge pontoon with 3 pontoons to keep it afloat. They can accomodate wheel chairs as well. They have folks on the boat to help the seniors or disabled fishermen anyway they can from untangling lines to putting on hooks if needed. Their only reward is the smile on another persons face who is doing something they love and thought they could never do again Next week they would like to take out a group and we have 2 guests who would love to go if they can get atleast 8 other people who would like to go as well. The boat is available the entire fishing season whenever they get enough interest to take a group out. The contact person is Stephanie at the Oneida County Aging Center 715 369 6170 8 - 4:30 m - f. Otherwise the chapters direct line is 715 219 5436 It would be great if our area had enough demand that a 2nd chapter would open in the Minocqua area but that is in the future. Please share this information with anyone in the area it is a wonderful service to be shared
