We thought we were off the hook this year with ice going out and leaving the docks alone. This afternoon a wind swept up and broke off a sheet from the otherside of the lake and drove it into our shoreline. It was time to do some ice breaking or the docks would be splinters
What Adventure are we going on today. I am up for it lets go! Where you go I go
Rowing out to the ice.
This is where Poe starts to get sick as the boat rocks back and forth breaking up the ice. Better than any barge
Ice in motion breaking up
Other side of the lake where the sheet broke away from. The whiter the ice is the thicker it is, the more damage it does to piers
View from the front of the boat heading into thicker ice
Docks with ice accumulating around them so far no damage
Ice ramming into the shoreline. Notice how dark this ice is, it is pretty thin and not doing damage compared to the whiter stuff farther out in the lake which we are more worried about heading into the shoreline and docks
Are we done yet? I think I am sea sick...... shoreline please!
View from the back of the boat of the river we created through the ice breaking it up. I will deal with ice jam over traffic jam anyday of the week
