Fools in Minocqua

The end of winter is marked with the April Fools run at Midnight a 5k race that starts at midnight at the high school, run along hwy 51 back to down town Minocqua to the Bearskin Trail, over the tressel to Doctor Pink Dr, down old 70 finishing once again at the high school. All of this done with flashlights, headlamps, and costumes that only fools at midnight would wear. Who in the Black Family would do this...... not me... but one of us is pictured above. Some may recognize her better with twins in toe and a toilet brush in the other hand Star of the show wearing the fools crown before the race. Could that be the webmaster of the Birchbark Blog and Black's Cliff Resort underneath that crown? Surreal moment running exhausted and sleep deprived at midnight through dark streets and be passed by a lit up star Race starting, not everyone had a costume. Over 800 fools headed out in the dark Katie and Bryon happily finishing together 3 minutes faster than last year, 4 minutes behind their nephew, and 3 minutes behind the blinking star. Most important is they FINISHED Winter is long up North when a 5K run at Midnight brings out 1/2 of the town for a run and party.
