Looking to get out and explore the trails around the Northwoods? Whether you're in the mood for a quick loop around a lake or a longer adventure through old-growth forests, we've got a great list of trails around the Minocqua area for you to visit.

So without further ado, here are some of our favorite trails in the area.

Schlecht Lake Trail

Schlecht Lake Trail

Schlecht Lake is perfect if you’re looking for a quick and scenic hike. This trail wraps around several wetlands and a small lake with a few punchy climbs. It’s a beautiful, short trail for those who are looking to connect with nature.

Raven Trail

Raven Trail

Considered to be one of the best trails in the area, The Raven Trail doesn’t disappoint. This route takes you through old-growth forests that surround Clear Lake. The trail has options for different lengths, with some sections paved that are perfect for biking. It is important to note that dogs aren’t allowed on the nature trail section, but if you love deep, shadowy woods, this is a great hike for you.

Bearskin Trail

Bearskin Trail Trestle

Bearskin Trail offers one of the flattest, easiest hikes around. This 21.5-mile trail runs along an old railroad corridor between Minocqua and Tomahawk, making it great for biking in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. It’s a peaceful and well-maintained trail that’s great for a family outing or anyone looking for an easy, relaxing stroll.

Madeline Trail

Madeline Trail

If you are looking for a less challenging hike, the Madeline Trail is a solid option. Known more as a ski trail in the winter, it meanders by Madeline Lake where there are many great water views. This trail has been recently logged, so some areas are a bit more open than the other trails on this list. Pets are welcome on the trail during the spring, summer and fall months as long as they are leashed.

Star Lake and Trampers Trail

Despite being a bit of a drive from the resort, this trail features boardwalks over boggy areas, old-growth forest, and peaceful lake views that make the drive worth it. Trampers Trail is wilder and less maintained, but equally beautiful, running through hemlock groves that will transport you back in time to a pre-settled Wisconsin. This trail is easily one of the top 3 on our list for scenery and those beautiful lakefront views.

Length: Approximately 2.5 miles, with loops of varying lengths.

Lumberjack Trail

Lumber Jack Trail

A laid-back trail near Boulder Junction, the Lumberjack Trail is a versatile option. It’s easygoing and features a charming bridge that takes you over White Sand Creek. It is a great trail for those looking for a simple hike.

McNaughten Trail

McNaughten Trail

If you’re looking for variety, McNaughten Trail is another one that offers plenty of options in length. The trail is relatively flat and passes by three lakes, with parts of the trail composed of boardwalks. It’s a wider trail that allows bikes, making it a popular choice for both casual hikers and cyclists.

Falison Trail

Falison Trail

A contender for one of the top 3 most beautiful hikes, Falison Trail loops around Falison Lake and is a designated nature trail, meaning no dogs allowed. With boardwalks, stairs, and boulders as the path, this trail offers some of the best water views in the area. If you’re looking for something scenic and serene, this is the one.

Escanaba Trail

Escanaba Trail

This trail runs between three lakes and is one of the longer systems in the area. The Escanaba Trail has a wild feel to it, with some dark, spooky stretches and plenty of boardwalk sections. It's great for biking and perfect for those who enjoy longer, more challenging hikes.
